Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can you make us an album?
Certainly. You will be able to create a list of your favourites in your online gallery, and I will design the album from there. Albums can be added to your package at any stage - even after the big day itself.
Q: How many images will we receive?
Every wedding is different! For a full day's coverage you may expect to receive a minimum of 350 photos, each carefully edited and in high resolution.
Q: How much editing do you do? I hate my arms/ankles/[insert body part here] – can you make them skinny?!
We edit all of our photos / films, adjusting tone, contrast, cropping etc….but we are photographers / videographers, not a digital artists. We prefer to capture your wedding day as it really was, we'll do subtle tweaks, such as spot removals, but we don’t airbrush away the mother of the bride’s wrinkles, or slim your waist to kidney crushing proportions. The Key to confidence on the day is to go to a professional dress shop, tailor or designer who can work with you so you end up with a beautiful dress or suit, that flatters your body and makes you feel amazing in it!
If you do want more extensive retouching on some photos we can get you a quote from the experts we would pass this type of work onto.
Q: What if your equipment breaks during our day?
Don't worry, we carry spares of everything! we shoot on dual card cameras too which means that not a single image will be lost in the event of a corrupt card!
Q: What if you can't attend?
If we really can't attend due to reasons beyond my control, we will use our network of photographers to find cover to take our place. They would attend and then we would edit the photos / videos in my style.
Q: How long does it take to receive our photos?
As soon as possible! We aim to deliver your edited photos within 4 weeks, but may be slightly longer during peak periods.
Q: How do you feel about people taking their own photos?
No problem at all! The only part of the day I recommend trying to restrict guest photography is during the ceremony, particularly guests next to the aisle. There's nothing quite like dear old Auntie Sue leaning out in front of us with her iPad for the first kiss. We can normally spot these things early so try our best to reposition and work around it, but if our movements are restricted by the ceremony officials we cannot accept responsibility for lack of coverage (we will always take a shot though so that you can see why!)
Q: What if we're really not comfortable in front of the camera?
Don't worry, you are not alone. We're exactly the same! This is why we purposefully try our best to keep everything relaxed and fun. Most of the time you really will forget that we're even there!
Q: Are you insured?
Yes – public liability and professional indemnity.
Q: Do you have a contract?
Yes. It's sent to you when you book.
Q: Do you take group shots?
Of course! Although as a friendly word of warning, group shots can be lengthy to do and quickly become tiresome for you and your guests if you have a long list in mind. We recommend that we keep the planned formal shots to 10 - 12 max. This should be more than sufficient for those important family and friends photographs and one of the whole wedding party.
Q: Will you require food on the day?
It's up to you! We fully appreciate how expensive weddings are, so If you are happy to offer food, a small meal would be greatly appreciated but this is by no means a requirement.
If you don't want to supply a small meal, we may need to nip away from your venue to find something to eat to keep us going, so there is a risk that we could miss something...
Q: Is there anything you need us to do before our big day?
We would appreciate if you could double check that photographs are permitted during your ceremony at your venue. Some venues, particularly churches, may restrict my movements or not permit photography at all. Should this be the case, we cannot accept responsibility for a lack of coverage. If our movements are restricted, we'll need a little time to select the most suitable vantage points.
Q: Do you have a drone?
Yes, we use the small but mighty
DJI Mini 2 for those sweeping overhead shots and larger group shots to create different perspectives. Always fully insured.
Use of the drone though is always dependent on the weather, and requires permission from venues / land owners for take off and landing.
Q: What music do you use for our films?
We use a subscription service full of independent artists, which means that any music we use is fully licensed and does not infringe any copyrights.
Q: What information do you need from us before our wedding day?
As much as possible, especially locations; where will you be getting ready? Where is the ceremony? Any special requests? Don't worry though, pretty much all of the information we need is captured on our questionnaires that you receive when you book. We send these early on because we believe that you shouldn't need to worry about anything on your wedding day other than having an awesome time celebrating with each other and your guests. The last thing we want to do is bombard you with questions on the day!
Q: How long does it take to receive our films?
As soon as possible! We aim to deliver your edited films within 8 weeks, but may be slightly longer during peak periods.
Q: What does copyright mean and who owns it?
Whoever owns the copyright of a photo, owns that photo and the right to do with it as they wish. As with the majority of wedding photographers in the UK, We own the copyright of the photos we take at your wedding. I then give you a licence to use the photos for unlimited personal use. This means you can post them on social media, share them with friends and family, and get albums and prints made. You can pretty much do as you please with them. The only limitation is using the photos for commercial/business use. For example, the venue want to use some of the photos from your wedding that we took, for their new brochure. You or the venue would need to contact us first to ask for permission to use the photos; you cannot grant permission to the venue yourselves.
Q: How far will you travel?
Anywhere! We're based in Somerset and shoot weddings all over the UK.
If your wedding is more than two hours travel away though we would require an additional £200 to cover our hotel the night before, and the night of your wedding.
Should you be thinking of a destination wedding, please get in touch for a bespoke quote - We'd love to hear your plans!
Q: What is your dress code?
We aim to blend in, so we always dress like we are a guest! This usually means we're fully suited with smart comfortable footwear. We find that blending in also means your guests are more relaxed, which means we can capture much more natural moments and interactions.
Q: We love your photos / films, but we love the style of another creative too! Can you adapt your style to match theirs?
We'll be blunt with with this one. No.
We really love that you love our style, and appreciate that there are many other styles you also love, but our advice would be that you look to book someone who specialises in the other style you prefer.
Q: Do you have any hidden costs?
No. The price on you quote is the price you pay! (you can always buy additional extras after the day though!)
Q: How do we book you?
The easiest way is to fill out our contact form and accept the quote. We will need to sign the contract and pay the 30% deposit to secure your date.
Q: Will you document our decorations and small details?
Yes! Details add to the story too, especially if it captures your personalities and values. You put so much thought and effort into your wedding day, it would be a shame to forget about all of the little things .
Q: What equipment do you use?
Cameras - Sony, DJI, Insta 360
Lenses- Sony, Sigma, Samyang (mixture of primes & telephoto)
Audio - Rode Mics & Sony TX650s
Drone - DJI Mini 2
